Amongst the several highly questionable tips in that article, one of the most useless (and even *harmful*) one is the tweak claiming to "reclaim the 20% of network bandwidth that Windows XP reserves". Before trying that out, check out the following first:

Don't be a misinformation-spreading zealot! Always double-check the info — especially "tweaks" and "tips".

Hi Dice, thanks for the note. I do think some of the tips were quite nifty (1, 3, 8) but you'll notice the last line of my article. Cheers.

Hello to all the tweaking society!!! I seem to have a problem with Cyberlink DVD player. It won't play a DVD whatever i do. It used to play before i formated the disk but now it is always stopping as soon as it opens. i have an old Pentium III at 450 MHZ running WinXP SP2. Before this occured i was getting a message from Dr. Watson running each time i opened the explorer thus shutting it down. My drive was also converted to PIO mode but thanks to your advice it is now back to DMA.
And another thing. My mobo seems to be locked and i can't access the clock's speed. Do you know anything about that? it is an Intel Seattle II SE 440 BX-2. Thank you in advance!!! And keep tweaking these chips!!!

I upgraded to XP pro but now the ethernet and other controllers/drives are not being properly recognized! I couldn't find the disk with SP2 for this upgrade. Is that the cause of my problem? Is there a way to fix it? PLEASE HELP!
